Medical and Surgical Applications of Fels

چکیده

Every medical laser application is based upon the compromise between efficiency and collateral adverse effects. The optimizing strategies of preclinical investigations of IR lasers can be dramatically improved by using FEL technology, allowing the free combination of wavelength, pulselength and energy. The new approach is illustrated by the results from photoablation of three different types of tissue (cornea, dental hard substances and atheromatous plaques). FEL technology enables the optimizing of physical and biological parameters and reducing risks while minimizing time and costs involved.

Applications of free-electron lasers in the biological and material sciences.

Free-Electron Lasers (FELs) collectively operate from the terahertz through the ultraviolet range and via intracavity Compton backscattering into the X-ray and gamma-ray regimes. FELs are continuously tunable and can provide optical powers, pulse structures and polarizations that are not matched by conventional lasers. Representative research in the biological and biomedical sciences and conden...

Raman-shifted alexandrite laser for soft tissue ablation in the 6- to 7-µm wavelength range

Prior work with free-electron lasers (FELs) showed that wavelengths in the 6- to 7-µm range could ablate soft tissues efficiently with little collateral damage; however, FELs proved too costly and too complex for widespread surgical use. Several alternative 6- to 7-µm laser systems have demonstrated the ability to cut soft tissues cleanly, but at rates that were much too low for surgical applic...

کانی‌شناسی، پاراژنز، بافت و رخساره‌های کانیایی در اسکارن‌های منطقه‌ی غرب ملایر

Triassic (mostly volcanic-carbonate) and Jurassic (mainly shale and sandstone) rocks in west of Malayer were affected by a number of shear zone, folding, deformation and metamorphic events. Regional metamorphism in the area led to the formation of Triassic and Jurassic rocks such as phyllite, slate and crystalline carbonate which folded during deformational events. In the contact metamorphism e...

Applications of Inertial Navigation Systems in Medical Engineering

Inertial navigation systems are of the most important and practical systems in determining the velocity, position and attitude of the vehicles and different equipment. In these systems, three accelerometers and three gyroscopes are used to measure linear accelerations and angular velocities of vehicles, respectively. By using the output of these sensors and special inertial algorithms in differ...

Fibroepithelial Lesions in the Breast of Adolescent Females: A Clinicopathological Study of 54 Cases.

Fibroepithelial lesions (FELs) are the most frequent breast tumors in adolescent females. The pubertal hormonal surge could impact the growth and microscopic appearance of FELs in this age group. In this study, we evaluate the morphology and clinical behavior of FELs in adolescents. We searched the 1992-2012 pathology data base for FELs in females 18 years old or younger (F ≤18 years). Seven FE...
